Participation at the United Nations Rio+20 Earth Summit

22 June 2012

The presence of VinylPlus at the Rio+20 Summit is a continuation of the work initiated by Vinyl 2010 in 2004 when it became a registered Partnership with the Secretariat of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD).

VinylPlus is participating in 2 different sessions at the Rio summit:

  • Partnerships Contributing to the Future We Want. Session 5 of the Partnerships Forum: This session envisions concrete announcements from partnerships and governments on future initiatives, collaborative arrangements or scaling up efforts to strengthen partnerships as a key implementation mechanism to support the follow up of Rio+20 and its potential contribution to the post-2015 development agenda.
  • Speed Brokering for Partnerships: scaling-up and replicating best practices in sustainable development: Organised like a ‘speed dating’ session, participants have 10 minutes to meet a total of 12 other participants. The session aims to serve as a launching path for replicability and scaling-up opportunities, to expand best practices and enhance efforts to connect similar initiatives in priority areas as well as address specific partnering needs.
