Stefan Sommer (Vynova)

Mr. Sommer has a degree in Business Economics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München (Germany). He has over 30 years of consulting, business development and general management experience gained at various leading chemical companies. He served as CEO of Ticona Engineering Plastics, CEO of ASK Chemicals and President of DSM China. In 2015 he was appointed President of Vynova Group. Mr. Sommer is Chairman of ECVM, the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers. In addition, he serves on the board of PlasticsEurope Germany. Stefan Sommer is the Chairman of VinylPlus® since October 2018.

Brigitte Dero (VinylPlus) - Managing Director

Dr. Brigitte Dero holds a PhD in Sciences (Molecular Biology) from the University of Brussels (ULB) in Belgium. Early in her career she worked for a special programme of the World Health Organisation on tropical diseases before moving to the metals industry to work in the occupational health, safety and environment arenas and, subsequently, on waste management and recycling. In June 1999 she joined the European Chemical Industry Council to manage the plastic additives sector groups , PVC stabilisers, plasticisers, flame retardants, antioxidants and food contact additives. In December 2011 Brigitte became general manager of the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers (ECVM). In January 2014 she became general manager of VinylPlus. In 2012 she registered VinylPlus in the UN Registry of Commitments and engaged VinylPlus with UNEP/UNIDO. IN 2013, VinylPLus became a member of the UNIDO/UNEP Green industry platform. Brigitte is passionate about science & sustainability, women in chemistry & education. She supports the ‘Women in Green industry chapter’ of UNIDO/UNEP.

Ettore Nanni (Reagens) - Treasurer

Ettore Nanni holds a PhD in Industrial Chemistry, obtained in 1983 from the University of Bologna, Italy. He currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer and is the main shareholder of the Reagens group, a private and independent chemical group internationally recognized for the production of stabilisers for PVC and other thermoplastics. Ettore Nanni is also Chairman of ESPA, the European Stabiliser Producers Association, affiliated to the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) and was instrumental in the success of Vinyl 2010.

Dirk Breitbach holds a Betriebswirt (VWA)/Graduate in Business Administration. He first worked as a Controller for a Aluminium window-profile producer. and then joined Polymer-Chemie Gmbh, one of the leading compounding producers in Europe, in 1995 as CFO. Ten years later Dirk had different responsibilities in the polymer-group as a managing director. Since 2011, besides his activities as head of administration of the polymer holding, Dirk leads the PVC-Compounding-business of the polymer group. In 2013 Polymer-Chemie decided to join VinylPlus; Dirk represents the interests of the Compounding industry as a board member and chairman of the Vinyl Foundation.

Filipe Constant began his professional career in chemicals almost 30 years ago when he joined the SOLVAY group, holding various Commercial and General Management positions within the organisation. In 1992, he was appointed Marketing Manager of the Specialty Chemicals unit in Spain before moving on to become Commercial Director for the Chemicals Sector businesses in Spain and Portugal in 2000. As General Manager of SBU Electrochemistry and Derived Specialties for SOLVAY from 2007 until April 2011, Filipe Constant was in charge of one of SOLVAY’s worldwide business units. He obtained his university degree in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico, in Lisbon, Portugal and is a graduate of the Alpha Program (Business Administration) from INSEAD, France. Until 2015, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer of SolvIn, the joint venture between SOLVAY and BASF in the European vinyl sector which has operations in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Belgium. Presently, he is Business Director at INOVYN, the European leader in vinyl production.

Andreas Hartleif (45) has been involved in the plastics industry for over 15 years. He joined VEKA AG in 1996, the world’s largest extruder of uPVC profiles used for windows and doors. Coordination between VEKA and its subsidiaries, conducting sector analysis, monitoring and strategic planning, were his main areas of responsibilities before becoming a Member of the Board of Directors in 1998. Shortly thereafter, Andreas Hartleif was appointed Deputy Director and since 2007, has held the position of Chief Executive Officer for VEKA. In addition to this role, Andreas Hartleif also represents the interests of the European plastics industry as a Member of the Board of EuPC, the European trade association of plastic converters.

Andy Jones (Baerlocher) - ESPA

Andy Jones joined Baerlocher’s UK subsidiary in 1991 and spent his early career in technical service, sales management and multinational key account management roles, primarily servicing customers in North West Europe. In 2006, he was appointed Managing Director of Baerlocher UK Limited and continues in this position today. Andy joined the management team in Baerlocher GmbH in Munich in 2009 and in his role as Head of PVC Additives EU/MEA, he has been responsible for steering Baerlocher’s business development from all of its European sites through significant technological change and regional expansion. In 2013, Andy joined the Global Management Committee of the Baerlocher Group as Global Head of the Strategic Business Unit PVC Additives and represents the company on a number of subsidiary boards.

Dr. Matthias Pfeiffer obtained his PH.D. in Inorganic Chemistry 1999. He has a strong experience in the plasticiser industry after working for different companies, and since 2013 has been responsible for the Technical Marketing of the BASF European plasticiser portfolio.

Obtaining a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Regensburg and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Universities of Augsburg & Pittsburgh (USA), Karl-Martin Schellerer began his professional career at Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KG in 1997 as Sales Manager – Paste & Extender PVC. After an assignment as Technical Service Manager, he served as the Head of Vinnolit’s Paste & Extender PVC business and later in his role as the Head of Corporate Development contributed to the strategic development of the company.

After having left Vinnolit for Dr. Wieselhuber & Partner Consultants GmbH in 2012 where he led a variety of consulting engagements as the Head of the firm’s Process & Construction Industries Practice, he returned to Vinnolit in mid 2015 and assumed the role as Managing Director. Further to his position at Vinnolit he is in charge of the Asian businesses of Westlake Chemical serving as VP Vinyl Chemical Europe and Asia.

Christian Vergeylen, born in 1958 , graduated from the Solvay Business School (Brussels) and began working at SOLVAY, in 1982, in Chemicals sales in Brussels and in Basel (CH).

Since 1989, he has held different management positions in plastic processing: in plastic pipes and fittings until 1995 and then in the flexible industrial films & sheets division.

Since 2000 he was the CEO of RENOLIT BELGIUM at Oudenaarde, Belgium and of the Waterproofing Business unit. These activities were acquired from SOLVAY by RENOLIT SE in 2006.

Additionally, since 2006 he has also been the CEO of RENOLIT ONDEX in Chevigny (F) which produces bi-stretched corrugated and flat PVC sheets. Moreover, he is also a board member of RENOLIT NORDIC and RENOLIT HUNGARY.

Since the beginning, Christian has been actively involved in the Association-world in order to promote the interests and the sustainability of the plastic processing industry: locally as vice-president of FEDERPLAST, Belgium; as a member of the Local board of the Chamber of Commerce (VOKA) and also at the European level as past-secretary of TEPPFA (pipes) and past-president of ESWA (roofing membranes).

In 2013, he was nominated as Chairman of Recovinyl and member of the boards of VinylPlus and the Vinyl Foundation. He is Vice Chairman of VinylPlus since May 2018.

Geoffroy Tillieux - Vinyl Foundation

Graduated in 2000 in the Solvay Business School, specialization Finances, Université Libre de Bruxelles. He holds a Master in law at the Université Catholique de Louvain. Geoffroy is Managing Director of the Vinyl Foundation and is a permanent guest of the VinylPlus Steering Board.
